BUMC Is Seeking a Full Time Youth Ministries Director

Brecksville United Methodist Church is a 700 member church in north east Ohio.  We are looking for our next Youth Ministries Director effective immediately. This person will  provide structure and spiritual leadership to the ministry of students in Grades 6-12.

Core Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree Preferred (or commensurate work experience.)
•    Youth ministry experience preferred (or experience working with youth in another capacity.)
•    Adept with social media and electronic communication.
•    Ability to communicate well with youth, parents, and the greater congregation.
•    Must pass background check and adhere to UMC Child Protection Policy.

BUMC Youth Director Position Description

The Youth Director will strive to foster Christian growth in and among the youth and youth families of our congregation. In association with the Youth Board, the Youth Director will:

•    Build relationships with youth, parents, and grandparents working to draw them closer to Christ and the church through personal contact, youth gatherings, and events.
•    Support and encourage the current youth leaders and existing ministries of the congregation as well as develop additional leaders for the ongoing program.
•    Meet regularly with the Youth Board and pastor.
•    Establish regular office hours at the church to be accessible to youth and youth leaders while also reserving time to be present at youth activities in the community.
•    Communicate youth activities to the congregation as a whole through conversation, a column in the Good Word newsletter, and announcements at congregational events.
•    Develop a church environment which is welcoming and supportive of youth.
•    Provide opportunities for youth to meet, build fellowship, and develop relationships with other Christian youth through gatherings, and events.
•    Disciple youth and train them to witness to and disciple others.
•    Develop a youth worship team that will lead worship occasionally.
•    Provide opportunities for youth to grow as servants and to be of service to their peers, families, church, and community.
•    Be a presence with involvement in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Program, Confirmation Instruction, etc.
•    Have fun with the youth and youth families of our congregation and community.

Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s Degree preferred or commensurate work experience.
•    A minimum of one year youth ministry experience preferred.
•    Positive. Caring. Relationship driven.
•    Christian background, good understanding of Bible.
•    Experience working with youth.
•    Strong work ethic. Team oriented.
•    Strong organization skills.
•    Adept with social media and electronic communication.
•    Ability to communicate well with youth, parents, and the greater congregation.
•    Wide range of interests including an awareness of youth interests.
•    Maturity.
•    Able to reach out to all youth - attract those that have drifted away.
•    Able to plan fun activities as well as service activities.
•    Must pass background check and adhere to UMC Child Protection Policy.
