Music at Brecksville UMC

The music program at Brecksville UMC includes choirs and ensembles for people of all ages. We are committed to lifting music of many styles and from many origins to glorify God. Adults and high school students are welcomed into Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Our Worship Band is a more contemporary opportunity for youth and adults. Vocalists and instrumentalists are needed. The Christian Musical Arts Program provides children in Kindergarten through 8th grade an opportunity to sing and ring bells, and High School Ensemble provides an opportunity for worship leadership to our older youth.

Concert Series

The Music Department is proud to announce our Fall 2011 Concert Series!

Saturday, November 19 ~ 7:30pm
An evening of Piano, Organ & Cello Music with Chris and Joy
This concert will feature a variety of works for piano and organ, piano duet, piano and cello, and organ and cello. Works include Concert for Piano and Organ by Flor Peeters and Finnlandische Volksweisen by Ferruccio Busoni.

Sunday, December 11 ~ 4:00pm
Brecksville Center for the Arts Community Chorus and Youth Chorus
Annual Christmas Concert featuring both traditional and popular holiday selections.

All concerts take place in the Sanctuary. They are free and open to the public.

Messiah Sing, April 22
The BUMC Music Department, in conjunction with the Brecksville Center for the Arts, is very proud to announce a community-wide Messiah Sing on Sunday, April 22. This exciting event will be held at 4:00pm in our Sanctuary. Featuring a chamber orchestra, organ, and trumpet, we will present the 2nd and 3rd sections of George Frideric Handel’s powerful work, Messiah.  Here’s how you can get involved!

Be a part of the “lead” chorus. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings, beginning immediately, from 7:45 to 9:00pm, at the Brecksville Middle School on Mill Road.

Open auditions will be held for Soprano, Tenor and Bass soloists (by single movement) on March 5 and 6 in the Sanctuary. Please contact Joy for audition information.

Just show up and sing on Sunday, April 22. Scores will be available at the door. (You are also welcome to come and listen!)
