What We Believe…

Open Doors…

We strive to live by these words, spoken by John Wesley: “Whoever you are; in whatever faith you were born, whatever creed you profess, if you come to this house to find God, you are welcome." At Brecksville United Methodist Church, our doors are open to everyone. We are constantly growing and learning how we can be more welcoming to those in the community, both nearby and further afield. Whatever your age, race, background, vocation, orientation or belief system, we invite you to come and experience God’s grace with us.

Honest Worship…

We strive to worship God and place God at the center of our lives. We believe that prayer, worship, reading, study and fellowship are all vital to growing as followers of Jesus, and that is what we desire to be. We are earnestly seeking how we can be more like Jesus, both in spirit and in action: more deeply in relationship with God and more deeply connected to our brothers and sisters in need. We believe that God is still speaking, and our lives are the continuing testament of God’s presence and intention in the world.

Determined Service…

We strive to reach out into the community, answering Jesus’ call to make disciples, heal the sick, visit those in prison, clothe the naked and feed the hungry. We believe in being active participants in the healing of our community, of the city of Cleveland, of this nation, and of the world. We believe in these words of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, himself paraphrasing a longer statement by St. Augustine: “Without God, man cannot. Without man, God will not.” We believe it is our calling to live as ministers of God’s grace to all those in need.

But whatever you believe, you are welcome here.
