Jesus is Extraordinary
Stewardship 2017

Together, the people of Brecksville United Methodist Church are doing extraordinary things to transform the world.  We support refugees fleeing violence at home and seeking sanctuary in Cleveland.  We provide meals for people facing food insecurity in Parma and greater Cleveland.  We partner with Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and Group Workcamps to rehabilitate homes both in Cleveland and around the Eastern US. We collect clothes for Easter Seals and other community organizations. We bake and serve pies and cobblers to raise money for UMW Missions.  We have an active pastoral care team reaching out to those who are sick, hospitalized or in need of a visit.  We host a Vacation Bible School that serves over 100 children and youth in our community each summer.  Our young people are learning to live lives of faith through our youth ministry, and we experience honest and engaging worship services each Sunday.  We are making and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!

In October, we will partner together as a church family in a Stewardship Campaign focused on the theme “Jesus is Extraordinary.”  Through music and testimony, we will celebrate the Extraordinary Service that happens in and around this building; the Extraordinary Boldness that takes us out into the community in mission and ministry; and the Extraordinary Transformation that happens when individuals grow as disciples of Jesus Christ!

We ask you to prayerfully consider your commitment to the church in the coming year.  Our congregation is actively engaged in building God’s kingdom, and your faithful pledge and support makes that happen.  We are also kicking off a 3-year Capital Campaign to cover necessary repair and replacement work on the church building and parsonage.  This building is a tremendous resource, and it enables us to continue all of the ministries and services that spread the Good News of Jesus in extraordinary ways.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing more information in your Sunday bulletin and through the weekly electronic newsletter.  We also have a page of our website dedicated to stewardship information, which we will continue to update throughout the year.  Visit for information, exciting stories of transformation, our latest financial report, and a link to details about the Trustees’ 5 year plan.

Opportunity: Church Tour! Sign up for a “behind the scenes” look at this church facility and see parts of the building you might not yet know about!  The first opportunity will be on October 16, and each tour will include time to discuss the 5 year building plan with a Church Trustee.

Homework: Pay Attention to Where God is Working! Take some time each day to observe and remember ways in which God is working in the world around you.  When you see God at work, share it with us!  You can share your story with Pastor Clark, with another staff member, or by writing it down and dropping it in the offering plate or in the main office.  We know God works in extraordinary ways when we grow as disciples of Jesus.  God is moving! Be part of this extraordinary time at our church!
