Extraordinary Boldness
Last week, we talked about all the extraordinary service that happens in—and because of—the beautiful, convenient and accommodating facilities and staff here at BUMC. But it isn’t enough to just “stay home” and celebrate what happens within our own walls. Jesus is also calling us to extraordinary boldness in our community and throughout the world!

The Challenge: Read Acts 3-4 this week.
In these chapters, you’ll hear just a bit of the story of Jesus’ early followers emboldened by their faith, sharing the gospel and healing with great power even in the face of opposition and persecution! It’s an awesome story! In particular, note these passages...

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus. [4:13]

“And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness. [4:29-31]

Has there been a time in your life when you were challenged to have courage and to be bold?  What made it possible?

What bold actions were Peter and John called to take in Acts 3-4?

What inspired them and made their boldness possible?

Does being bold in your faith intimidate you? What does bold faith look like?

Pray this week that God would give you courage to be bold in your faith!

We have a bold challenge before us.
How do we expand our reach so more people hear and experience God’s extraordinary love?

One way we will meet this challenge is by making a commitment to outreach.  We have taken a bold step in creating a new staff position, Director of Outreach and Development, to help us take the Good News of Jesus Christ to people outside our four walls. With the support, the prayers, the help, and the participation of each person in this church family, we will reach out in bold and innovative ways and invite everyone we encounter to experience the transformative power of God’s love!

Over the past few days, you should have a received a letter with information about the creation of our Planned Expense Fund. As part of our Stewardship Campaign this year, we are asking you to prayerfully consider a 3-year commitment to helping us fund this important ministry tool. If you have not yet received your letter, it will be coming in the next few days or you can contact the office for a replacement copy.

The Invitation:
Tours are still happening this morning!

Meet the Trustees in the Parlor following worship for a behind-the-scenes tour, in which you can see the facilities and functionality and enables so much ministry in this church!

That includes classes for all ages, bible studies, worship
opportunities and so much more.  Our church staff is also working to equip each of us to be bold in our Faith, just as Peter and John were bold in their ministry.  This is what
Jesus asks of us, and this is our vision here at
Brecksville United Methodist Church!

Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
